WASHINGTON, June 22 (UPI) -- John Lannan and four relievers teamed to give up six hits without a walk Wednesday, carrying the Washington Nationals to a 2-1 victory over Seattle.
Washington won for the ninth time in 10 games and climbed to the breakeven mark for the first time since May.
Lannan (5-5) went 5 2/3 innings, giving up a run on three hits. The outstanding relief effort was finished off by Drew Storen, who worked a perfect ninth for his 18th save.
Both Washington runs came against Eric Bedard (4-5) and both were unearned.
A two-out fielding error by Seattle second baseman Chone Figgins kept the first inning going and set up an RBI single by Danny Espinosa.
A throwing error by catcher Miguel Olivo in the fourth allowed Espinosa to move from second to third, and he then scored the final run of the game on an infield single by Jerry Hairston.
Washington has won the first two of the three-game series, having scored five times in the ninth inning Tuesday for a 6-5 victory.
