CINCINNATI, June 22 (UPI) -- Freddie Garcia and two relievers combined on a four-hitter Wednesday in the New York Yankees' 4-2 interleague win over Cincinnati in a doubleheader's opener.
Garcia (6-6) allowed three hits and two runs in seven innings while David Robertson pitched a one-hit eighth and Mariano Rivera struck out two in a 1-2-3 ninth. It was Rivera's 19th save.
Cincinnati scored its runs in the fifth with a rally that included one hit, two errors and two sacrifices, one of which was a run-scoring fly by Fred Lewis.
The Yankees only had six hits in the game, with five coming against Reds starter Mike Leake (6-4). Three of those were in the second inning when New York scored twice. Nick Swisher scored on a ground out and Robinson Cano, on a single, got the RBI.
The Yankees broke the 2-2 tie in the sixth on Jorge Posada's seventh home run of the year.
