MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 6, Detroit 1

LOS ANGELES, June 22 (UPI) -- Chad Billingsley struck out six and Andre Ethier belted a two-run homer Tuesday to pace the Los Angeles Dodgers in their 6-1 win over visiting Detroit.

Billingsley (6-6) evened his record by holding the Tigers to one run on six hits through 5 1/3 innings.

The win was the third in a row for Los Angeles. The Tigers lost for the fifth time in seven games.

Max Scherzer (9-3) took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits over six innings. Martinez and Brennan Boesch both went 2-for-4.

Los Angeles led 2-1 after four innings and then broke the game open with a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
