CLEVELAND, June 20 (UPI) -- Jason Giambi blasted a three-run homer to cap a big fifth inning Monday that carried the Colorado Rockies to an 8-7 interleague win over Cleveland.
Trailing 4-1 entering the fifth, the Rockies sent 10 men to the plate and exploded for six runs -- all with two outs -- to grab the lead.
After the Rockies loaded the bases with two gone against Fausto Carmona (4-9), Todd Helton coaxed an RBI walk and Troy Tulowitzki followed with a grounder that bounced off the third base bag and into foul territory, allowing the tying runs to score.
Giambi then pulled a 3-1 pitch into the right-center field bullpen and the Rockies went on to win the first contest of a three-game series.
Carlos Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, Matt Lindstrom (2-1) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless sixth and Huston Street notched his 21st save for the Rockies.
Travis Hafner cracked a three-run homer and Carlos Santana went 3-for-4 with a solo shot for the Indians.
