CINCINNATI, June 19 (UPI) -- Bronson Arroyo held the Blue Jays to one run over eight innings and Miguel Cairo homered Sunday, handing the Cincinnati Reds a 2-1 victory over Toronto.
Arroyo (6-6) won for the third time in four starts. The right-hander allowed five hits and one walk while fanning five for the Reds, who avoided a three-game interleague sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays.
Francisco Cordero closed out the victory with a 1-2-3 ninth, earning his 15th save, as the Reds improved to 1-5 in interleague play this season.
Cairo supplied Cincinnati's offense with a two-out, two-run blast in the sixth.
Carlos Villanueva (4-1) lost for the first time since joining the Blue Jays' rotation late last month, yielding two runs on seven hits in a seven-inning start.
Aaron Hill socked a fifth-inning solo homer for Toronto's only run.
