BOSTON, June 17 (UPI) -- The Boston Red Sox announced Friday reliever Jonathan Papelbon's suspension had been reduced from three games to two.

Papelbon was suspended and fined an undisclosed amount June 7 for making contact with home plate umpire Tony Randazzo during a game against Oakland three days earlier.

The Boston closer had been scheduled to begin serving the suspension last Tuesday, but appealed. He was unavailable for Boston's game Friday against Milwaukee and will complete the suspension Saturday.
