
NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) -- Joel Pineiro earned his 100th career victory Friday with help from Peter Bourjos in bringing the Los Angeles Angels a 4-3 win over the New York Mets.
Pineiro (3-3) had gone 0-3 in six starts since winning his 99th game last month. He allowed two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 while boosting his career record against the Mets to 4-0 in seven starts.
Bourjos snapped a 2-2 tie with an RBI double in the sixth and then made a sensational catch against the fence in center during the bottom half of the inning.
Jordan Walden came on in the ninth for the Angels and walked the first two batters in the inning. Walden then struck out the next three for his 16th save.
Chris Capuano (5-7) was touched for three runs, two earned, on eight hits in six innings to take the interleague loss.
