CLEVELAND, June 17 (UPI) -- Josh Tomlin combined with two relievers on a six-hitter Friday that lifted Cleveland to a 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh.
Tomlin (8-4) had lost three of his previous four starts, but limited the Pirates to a run over 6 2/3. Vinnie Pestano and Tony Sipp teamed to give up only a walk while striking out three over the final 2 1/3.
Cleveland took control of the interleague contest with a three-run eighth, during which Travis Hafner had an RBI double, Carlos Santana delivered Asdrubal Cabrera with a single and Orlando Cabrera produced a sacrifice fly.
The loss went to Kevin Correia (8-6), who allowed two runs on four hits with three walks in 5 2/3.
The Pirates had won their previous four games. It was only the fourth Cleveland victory in 15 games.
