OAKLAND, Calif., June 16 (UPI) -- Josh Outman threw seven shutout innings Wednesday and Oakland held on for just its second win in 15 games, a 2-1 victory over Kansas City.

Outman (2-1) gave up four hits and struck out two before giving way to Brian Fuentes, who allowed a run on three hits in the eighth.

Andrew Bailey came on in the ninth and retired the Royals in order for his second save.

The game was scoreless heading into the sixth, when Oakland struck for a run against Luke Hochevar (4-7). Jemile Weeks reached third with one away and scored on a single to center by Cliff Pennington.

Ryan Sweeney then singled to open the Oakland seventh, made it to second on a sacrifice bunt and came in on Daric Barton's one-out single.

Kansas City had won its previous two games.
