PHOENIX, June 15 (UPI) -- Two doubles and two RBI by Cody Ross helped carry the San Francisco Giants past Arizona 6-5 Tuesday.
Ross' two-run double highlighted a three-run fifth inning that staked Matt Cain (6-4) to a 5-0 lead.
Cain wound up needing the additional padding after Arizona proceeded to score a run in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the sixth on Miguel Montero's home run to cut San Francisco's lead to 5-4.
Cain earned the victory with five runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. Brian Wilson was credited with his 19th save after allowing the potential winning run to reach second base in the bottom of the ninth.
Josh Collmenter (4-2) took the loss with five runs on eight hits and three walks in five innings. Collmenter had given up a total of four earned runs in his previous six starts.
Justin Upton went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Arizona.
