MLB: Houston 8, Atlanta 3

HOUSTON, June 13 (UPI) -- Hunter Pence went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI Monday, stretching his hitting streak to 23 games in Houston's 8-3 win over Atlanta.

Pence returned from a bout of back tightness with a big game, pacing the Astros' 14-hit attack as they avoided a four-game sweep at the hands of the Braves.

Houston's Brett Wallace doubled twice, added a pair of walks, scored two times and drove in a run as the Astros won for only the second time in 10 games.

Wandy Rodriguez (4-3) returned from the disabled list to earn the victory, yielding only two hits in six shutout innings while overcoming four walks and striking out five.

Derek Lowe (3-5), meanwhile, ran his winless streak to seven starts for Atlanta. He was roughed up for five runs on eight hits and three walks over 5 1/3 innings.

The Braves saw their six-game winning streak snapped.
