SEATTLE, June 12 (UPI) -- Eric Hassli's tally in the 85th minute Saturday helped the Vancouver Whitecaps salvage a 2-2 tie in a wild game with Seattle.
The Whitecaps (1-6-8) appeared headed for a 1-0 victory late in the game but surrendered two stunning goals to Seattle.
Mauro Rosales got the equalizer in the 81st when he picked up a redirected cross and put a right-footed volley past 'Caps goalkeeper Joe Cannon.
Then only 3 minutes later, the Sounders (5-4-7) went ahead when Osvaldo Alonso pounced on a turnover and quickly found the net on a low shot.
But Vancouver's Hassli struck only seconds later, launching a perfect volley from 20 yards out that got past Seattle goalie Kasey Keller and into the upper-left corner.
Despite the point, the Whitecaps remained winless in their last 14 games.
