PHILADELPHIA, June 12 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard's go-ahead, two-run single in the seventh inning Sunday lifted the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Trailing 3-2 entering the seventh, Philadelphia began a rally when Sean Marshall (3-1) hit Shane Victorino with a pitch leading off the frame.
Chase Utley sent him to third on a double and both came home when Howard lined a single up the middle for the go-ahead runs, allowing the first-place Phillies to improve their major league-best record to 40-26.
The big hit made a winner of starter Roy Oswalt (4-4), who held the Cubs to three runs on five hits over seven innings, walking two and striking out five.
Michael Stutes threw a scoreless eighth and Ryan Madson nailed down his 15th save as Philadelphia took three wins in a four-game set with the Cubs.
Aramis Ramirez socked a two-run homer for Chicago, which lost for the 11th time in 13 contests.
