CHICAGO, June 11 (UPI) -- The Chicago Cubs declined to comment on remarks by television analyst Peter Gammons about the condition of historic Wrigley Field.

Gammons said in a radio interview Friday that the Cubs owners had underestimated the cost of major renovations to the 97-year-old baseball stadium.

""They have to make that ballpark livable," Gammons told WSCR-AM, Chicago. "It's a dump, Wrigley Field."

The Chicago Tribune said Saturday it asked team chairman Tom Rickets for a response, however a spokesman declined.

The newspaper said the Ricketts family has pledged to overhaul Wrigley but continue working out the financing. Gammons estimated it would cost $200 million for a renovation similar to the one performed at equally historic Fenway Park in Boston.
