MILWAUKEE, June 10 (UPI) -- Chris Narveson allowed six hits in eight innings Friday, leading Milwaukee to an 8-0 win over St. Louis that spoiled Tony La Russa's 5,000th career game.

The St. Louis manager has a record of 2,676-2,320 with four ties in a 33-year career with Oakland, the Chicago White Sox and the Cardinals.

Only Connie Mack (7,755 games over 53 years with Pittsburgh and Philadelphia) managed more major league contests.

Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer and Corey Hart had a solo shot as part of Milwaukee's sixth win in eight games.

Narveson (3-4) struck out six before giving way to Tim Dillard in the ninth. Dillard threw nine pitches to complete the shutout.

Kyle Lohse (7-3) took the loss, surrendering four runs on five hits over five innings.
