MIAMI, June 9 (UPI) -- Jair Jurrjens carried a shutout into the seventh inning Thursday and drove in what turned out to be the winning run, leading Atlanta to a 3-2 win over Florida.
The Marlins have lost eight in a row after moving to 10 games above .500. Atlanta won for the fifth time in seven games despite being held hitless through five innings.
Jurrjens (8-2) tired in the seventh and left after allowing two runs on six hits without a walk. Eric O'Flaherty relieved Jurrjens in the eighth and worked out of a two-on, one-out jam.
Jonny Venters was perfect in the ninth and earned his second save.
Chris Volstad (2-6) allowed one base runner on a walk through five innings, but Matt Young reached on an infield single to open the Atlanta sixth and eventually scored on a double by Alex Gonzalez.
The Braves boosted their lead to 3-0 in the seventh with the help of a hit from Jurrjens. Atlanta put runners on first and third with one away before Freddie Freeman raced home on a wild pitch. Jurrjens followed with a single to center that scored Brooks Conrad from second.
Mike Stanton produced one of Florida's runs in the seventh with his 14th homer.
