No charges yet in Dodger Stadium assault

LOS ANGELES, June 8 (UPI) -- Los Angeles police transferred the investigation into the Dodger Stadium beating to an elite squad Wednesday as a suspect remained uncharged.

The victim, Bryan Stow, a San Francisco Giants fan, was beaten into a coma March 31 in a stadium parking lot.

Northeast Division detectives had been investigating the crime, but the Robbery Homicide Division is now in charge, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"As the demands of the case become more complex and prolonged, RHD detectives will be better equipped to conduct the investigation," the department said in a statement.

A suspect, Giovanni Ramirez, was arrested two weeks ago. But prosecutors have not brought formal charges and have asked police for more evidence, the Times said.

Ramirez's family says he was home at the time of the beating.

Stow, who suffered brain damage, remains hospitalized.
