MLB: San Diego 2, Colorado 0

SAN DIEGO, June 8 (UPI) -- Tim Stauffer allowed just four hits over eight innings Tuesday in the San Diego Padres' 2-0 victory over Colorado.

Stauffer (2-4) allowed one walk and struck out a career-high eight before turning the ball over to Heath Bell, who picked up his 17th save.

Stauffer also contributed at the plate with two hits, including an RBI single. He drove in Alberto Gonzalez in the fifth inning after Gonzalez had brought in the Padres' first run with an infield single.

Ubaldo Jimenez (1-6) took the loss, allowing two runs on six hits and with eight strikeouts over seven innings. Seth Smith went 2-for-4 for the Rockies, who were 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
