Tim Wakefield (3-1) collected the win despite giving up five runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. Alfredo Aceves worked the final 3 2/3 innings for his first save.
Boston roughed up A.J. Burnett (6-4) for seven earned runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.
New York's Derek Jeter had an RBI double in the fifth, moving him within 11 hits of 3,000 for his career.
