Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ATLANTA, June 8 (UPI) -- Atlanta Hawks forward Marvin Williams walked out of a clinic Wednesday after undergoing a procedure to fix a bulging disc in his back, the team said.
Williams, who averaged 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds this past season, is expected to resume full basketball activity in six to eight weeks.
The outpatient discectomy on his lower back was performed by Dr. Hal Silcox of Peachtree Orthopedic Clinics.
The 6-foot-9, 240-pound Williams, who turns 25 June 19, already has six seasons under his belt with the Hawks, averaging 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 430 games.
