
ANAHEIM, Calif., June 7 (UPI) -- David Price tossed seven innings of one-run ball and Justin Ruggiano drove in three runs Monday in the Tampa Bay Rays' 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Price (7-5) gave up five hits, didn't issue a walk and struck out seven, throwing 79 of his 114 pitches for strikes as the Rays took the first of a three-game series.
Ruggiano belted a two-run homer in the sixth, putting the Rays up 4-0, and added an RBI single while Matt Joyce drove in a pair with a single and a sacrifice fly.
The Rays came into the game having lost 14 of their previous 21 contests.
Angels starter Tyler Chatwood (3-3) yielded five runs (four earned) on nine hits during his seven-inning start for Los Angeles, which lost for the fifth time in six games.
