PITTSBURGH, June 7 (UPI) -- Lyle Overbay delivered a tie-breaking, bases-clearing double in the eighth inning Tuesday, rallying the Pittsburgh Pirates to an 8-5 win over Arizona.
Trailing 5-3 entering the frame, the Pirates erupted for five runs to stun the Diamondbacks and clinch their three-game series.
Pinch-hitter Garrett Jones and Jose Tabata led off the eighth with back-to-back doubles off David Hernandez (2-2) to plate a run and ignite the rally. Josh Harrison followed with an RBI single to forge a 5-5 tie.
One out later, Andrew McCutchen walked to load the bases and Overbay ripped a 3-1 pitch into the right-center field gap, chasing home three runs.
The rally made a winner of Chris Resop (2-1), who came in to strike out Arizona's Ryan Roberts with two on and two out in the top of the eighth.
Diamondbacks starter Daniel Hudson held the Pirates to three runs (one earned) on three hits over seven frames.
Juan Miranda went 4-for-4 with a solo homer and Kelly Johnson added a bases-empty home run and a two-run single for Arizona.
