Memorial win moves Stricker up in rankings

LONDON, June 6 (UPI) -- Steve Stricker won the PGA Tour's Memorial Tournament and moved up four places to No. 4 in the men's world golf rankings.

Stricker had enough of a lead going into the final hole of the event Sunday to secure the title with a bogey. It was his first PGA Tour win since last July. He has won 10 championships on the tour and 18 overall in his professional career.

Stricker has a rankings points average of 6.548.

Luke Donald, whose average is 9.211, is still No 1 in the world with Lee Westwood (8.589) in second and Martin Kaymer (7.422) third. The top three places are the same as last week but the rest of the Top 10 was jumbled.

Stricker's move dropped Phil Mickelson (6.064), who tied for 13th at the Memorial, to fifth but Matt Kuchar (5.667), who was second to Stricker, moved from seventh to sixth. He switched places with Rory McIlroy (5.499).

Graeme McDowell, 30th at the European Tour's Saab Wales Open, an event he won in 2010, fell from fifth to eighth. His average is 5.454. Dustin Johnson (5.164), fourth last the Memorial, goes from 14th to ninth and Paul Casey (5.156) slipped one place to 10th.

Charl Schwartzel (5.098) dropped to 11th and Tiger Woods (4.687) fell another two places and is now ranked 15th.

Wales Open champion Alexander Noren improved his ranking from 127th to No. 80.
