
ANAHEIM, Calif., June 5 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira homered twice Sunday, including a go-ahead, two-run shot, and the New York Yankees posted a 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Teixeira's solo homer in the third gave New York a brief 2-0 lead.
His second came in the fifth inning with Curtis Granderson aboard and broke a 2-2 tie, propelling the Yankees to a 2-1 series win in Anaheim.
Nick Swisher also homered for the Yankees.
Bartolo Colon (4-3) earned the victory, holding the Angels to three runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out four.
David Robertson and Joba Chamberlain combined on 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Mariano Rivera collected his 16th save despite allowing two hits in the ninth.
Joel Pineiro (2-3) was touched for four runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings for the Angels.
Mark Trumbo hit a solo homer and Maicer Izturis added a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the loss.
