Keselowski conserves fuel, logs K.C. win

KANSAS CITY, Kan., June 5 (UPI) -- Brad Keselowski went easy on the fuel in the final laps Sunday, coasting down the stretch to record a victory in the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Keselowski grabbed the lead from Penske Racing teammate and pole-sitter Kurt Busch with nine laps remaining, then conserved on fuel and coasted as much as he could.

He eventually guided his No.2 Dodge across the finish line 2.8 seconds ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

It was the second career Sprint Cup series win for Keselowski, while Earnhardt's winless streak stretched to 106 races.

Keselowski's first Sprint Cup win came 75 races ago in April 2009 at Talladega, Ala.

Grabbing the third spot was Denny Hamlin. He was followed by Jeff Gordon in fourth while fifth place went to Carl Edwards, who gained 40 points on his series lead over seventh-place finisher Jimmie Johnson.
