ANAHEIM, Calif., June 4 (UPI) -- Jered Weaver earned his first win in more than a month Friday in helping bring the Los Angeles Angels a 3-2 win over the New York Yankees.
New York had a four-game winning streak snapped.
Weaver (7-4) allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings while striking out eight.
Scott Downs survived a two-out walk in the eighth and Jordan Walden was perfect in the ninth to claim his 13th save.
Weaver's last victory had come April 25. Since then he had suffered four losses and two no-decisions, one of them coming in his most recent start, a 1-0 loss to Minnesota in which he did not allow a run in nine innings and received no support.
Bobby Abreu doubled in a Los Angeles run in the first and scored later in the inning on a groundout by Alberto Callaspo.
New York cut its deficit in half on Russell Martin's RBI single in the second and tied it in the third when Jorge Posada doubled home Alex Rodriguez.
The game-winning run scored on a bases-loaded single by Peter Bourjos in the fourth off starter Ivan Nova (4-4).
