KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 2 (UPI) -- Michael Cuddyer's second RBI of the game ignited a six-run third inning Thursday and propelled the Minnesota Twins to an 8-2 victory over Kansas City.

A throwing error by Kansas City shortstop Mike Aviles made four of the third-inning runs unearned and helped the Twins snap a four-game losing streak. The Royals had won two in a row.

It was a 1-1 game heading into the third but Alexi Casilla and Justin Morneau opened the inning with singles off Sean O'Sullivan (2-5). Cuddyer then doubled home Casilla with the go-ahead run and Morneau scored when Aviles threw wildly to first on a grounder from Danny Valencia.

After Cuddyer was picked off third, Delmon Young singled Valencia to second. Ben Revere followed with a strikeout which would have ended the inning had it not been for the Aviles error.

Before Kansas City could get out of the inning the Twins had scored four more times on three singles and a wild pitch.

Anthony Swarzak (1-2) got the win with a six-inning performance. He allowed two runs on seven hits. Swarzak replaced Francisco Liriano in the rotation after Liriano went on the disabled list.
