SEATTLE, June 1 (UPI) -- Justin Smoak hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning Tuesday to power the Seattle Mariners to a 3-2 victory over Baltimore.
Chris Ray (2-1) picked up the win in relief of Erik Bedard, and Brandon League notched his 15th save.
The win was the 11th in the last 13 games for the Mariners.
Seattle managed just three hits prior to the eighth, when Ichiro Suzuki reached on an error and Brendan Ryan hit a single before Smoak launched his eighth home run of the season into the right field seats.
Jeremy Guthrie (2-7) went the distance but took the loss. He gave up three unearned runs on five hits and struck out nine.
Matt Wieters had a solo homer for Baltimore. The Orioles have lost five in a row.
