Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

OAKLAND, Calif., May 30 (UPI) -- Bartolo Colon fired a four-hit, complete-game shutout Monday and the New York Yankees whitewashed Oakland 5-0.
Colon (3-3), a 38-year-old, right-handed veteran, tossed the ninth shutout of his career and first in five years.
He didn't allow a walk and struck out six in a 103-pitch performance that gave the Yankees the first of a three-game set in Oakland.
Mark Teixeira blasted a two-run homer and Robinson Cano added a run-scoring double during a first-inning uprising and New York never looked back.
Athletics starter Trevor Cahill (6-3), meanwhile, ran his personal winless streak to four, yielding four runs on four hits while walking five batters in 6 2/3 innings.
