PORTLAND, Ore., May 29 (UPI) -- Chris Pontius and Josh Wolff notched second-half goals Sunday and D.C. United hung on to record a 3-2 victory over the Portland Timbers.

Pontius broke a 1-1 tie in the 74th minute after converting a penalty kick and Wolff added another goal in the 85th, giving D.C. (4-4-3) a two-goal advantage.

Jorge Perlaza drew the Timbers (5-4-2) to within one with a goal in the 88th, but that was all the closer they'd get.

Perry Kitchen also scored for United, which won for only the second time in five road games.

Jack Jewsbury converted a penalty kick goal for the Timbers, whose five-game home winning streak was snapped.
