MINNEAPOLIS, May 28 (UPI) -- Danny Valencia's 10th-inning, bases-loaded single Saturday broke up a scoreless pitcher's duel and handed Minnesota a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
The Twins notched three straight one-out singles in the 10th to load the bases. Hisanori Takahashi (1-1) allowed a hit to Justin Morneau, who yielded to pinch runner Jason Repko.
Kevin Jepsen came in to pitch, allowed singles to Michael Cuddyer and Delmon Young before Valencia lofted a fly ball over a drawn-in outfield to score Repko and hand the Twins only their sixth in 20 home games.
Alex Burnett (1-3) earned the victory thanks to a scoreless ninth, but the night belonged to Minnesota starter Anthony Swarzak, who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.
Swarzak, making a spot start for the injured Francisco Liriano, held the Angels hitless until giving up a one-out double to Peter Bourjos in the eighth. He ended up allowing only the one hit, walking two and fanning four.
The Angels' Jered Weaver matched him with nine scoreless frames, surrendering only two hits of his own, also walking two while striking out seven.
