CHICAGO, May 27 (UPI) -- Kevin Correia allowed four hits over 7 1/3 innings Friday in helping the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

All the hits surrendered by Correia (7-4) were singles. He also walked two and struck out two.

Pittsburgh reliever Jose Veras got out of a jam in the eighth but Joe Beimel allowed a two-run home run by Alfonso Soriano -- his 12th of the year -- before Joel Hanrahan was brought in and collected his 14th save by striking out the side.

Pittsburgh backed Correia with a pair of two-run rallies.

After an error by pitcher Doug Davis (0-3) put two runners on base, Correia reached on another error that allowed Chris Snyder to score. Steve Pearce added a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.

The Pirates got four hits off Davis, who helped Pittsburgh with six walks and a hit batter in his 4 2/3-inning stint.

Three of those walks played a role in the Pittsburgh 2-run fourth. The Pirates loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batter and then Davis walked Andrew McCutcheon, forcing in a run. Neil Walker drove in the other run with a shot down the line that third baseman Aramis Ramirez made a good play on to keep the damage to one run.
