MLB: Boston 6, Detroit 3

DETROIT, May 27 (UPI) -- Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford homered during a five-run third Friday and the Boston Red Sox gained revenge against Rick Porcello in a 6-3 win over Detroit.

The Red Sox had to settle for six runs after producing 14 in each of their last two games but they scored enough to pick up their fourth straight victory. All of the runs came against Porcello (4-2), who faced Boston for the first time since touching off a benches-clearing incident between the Red Sox and Tigers in 2009 by hitting Kevin Youkilis with a pitch.

Detroit held a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the third but the Red Sox took control in that inning by sending eight men to the plate.

Ellsbury, who scored Boston's first run in the opening inning on a Porcello wild pitch, homered to lead off the third. Dustin Pedroia then drew a walk, Adrian Gonzalez singled and both runners scored on a double by Youkilis.

After David Ortiz flew out, Crawford his the first pitch he saw over the right field fence to give the Red Sox a 6-2 lead.
