Report: Rockies fan dies in stadium mishap

DENVER, May 26 (UPI) -- A Denver Rockies fan has died as a result of an accident at the team's stadium, the Denver Post reported Thursday.

The newspaper said Robert Seamans, 27, was the victim of an accident suffered Tuesday in a stairwell on the concourse level in the upper reaches of Coors Field. The incident took place as Colorado was playing against Arizona.

Witnesses told investigators Seamans was attempting to slide down a railing in the stairwell and fell off, striking his head. The report said Seamans was declared dead Wednesday.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of one of our fans," the Rockies said in a statement Thursday. "Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends of this young man as we all grieve for his loss."
