MIAMI, May 25 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall is not cooperating with the investigation into his stabbing.

Ron Ishoy, spokesman for the Broward State Attorney's office, released a statement saying Marshall has not been cooperating with the investigation into his wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, who was arrested April 22 and accused of stabbing Marshall at their home in Southwest Ranches, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

"Despite numerous efforts, we so far have been unable to get Mr. Marshall to agree to voluntarily speak to our office about the incident. We continue to diligently pursue this matter," Ishoy said.

Nogami-Marshall was charged with aggravated battery and was given a no-contact order to keep her from communicating with her husband.

Harvey A. Steinberg, Marshall's lawyer, said his client does not want to press charges.

"Brandon didn't ask for the no-contact order, has never felt threatened by his wife, and misses her," Steinberg said. "When (they) drop the no-contact order he'll be more than willing to sit down and discuss this matter, bringing some clarity to this unfortunate misunderstanding."
