ARLINGTON, Texas, May 25 (UPI) -- Carlos Quentin hit three home runs Tuesday to lead the Chicago White Sox past Texas 8-6 in a game delayed by a storm that forced the evacuation of the stands.

Quentin went 3-for-5 with five RBI and Adam Dunn added a solo homer for the White Sox.

Tony Pena (1-1) picked up the win in relief of Jake Peavy despite giving up two runs on three hits in his only inning. Serge Santos earned his seventh save.

Brent Tomko (0-1) took the loss in relief of Derek Holland. Tomko gave up two runs on three hits in two innings.

Josh Hamilton was 3-for-5 with one RBI for Texas. Michael Young had two walks and two RBI.

Texas tied the game in the bottom of the fifth but the White Sox scored two in the sixth to take the lead for good.

The game was halted for nearly 3 hours by a violent storm that roared through the Dallas area. The Dallas Morning News said winds gusting to 66 miles per hour and golf ball-sized hail prompted officials to move the crowd of 35,524 out of the stands and into tunnels under the stadium. Some lower-deck customers were ushered inside through the dugouts and bullpen entrances.

Scores of spectators waited out the storm under the overhangs.

"The hail was probably more of a challenge than anything else," said Rob Matwick, vice president of ballpark operations. "I think people were as safe as they could be here. We moved them down and took them as low as we could go."
