BALTIMORE, May 25 (UPI) -- Adam Jones had two hits and two RBI during an eight-run fourth inning Wednesday that sent the Baltimore Orioles coasting to a 9-2 victory over Kansas City.
The Orioles won their fourth straight and climbed back within one game of the .500 mark. Baltimore got off to a 6-1 start this season, but had dropped to 19-24 before going on its current streak.
Jones doubled to open the fourth and scored the first run of the inning on a groundout by Vladimir Guerrero. When he came up again Jones singled in the sixth and seventh runs of the inning.
Seven straight batters reached base at one point during the fourth, three of them on walks. One of those walks was issued to Mark Reynolds, who finished the scoring with a solo homer in the eighth.
Jake Arrieta (6-2) went six innings to get the win. He allowed a two-run homer to Melky Cabrera in the fifth and gave up five hits overall with seven strikeouts.
Luke Hochevar (3-5) stayed in the game through all of the fourth inning and eventually allowed eight runs on eight hits in seven frames.
The Royals have lost four in a row.
