PHOENIX, May 22 (UPI) -- Kelly Johnson socked a go-ahead, grand slam homer in the eighth inning Saturday, powering the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 9-6 inter-league win over Minnesota.
Trailing 6-3 entering the frame, the D-backs stunned the Twins with six runs to earn their fifth straight win and seventh victory in eight games despite committing five errors.
Twins reliever Glen Perkins allowed a one-out single to Miguel Montero in the eighth before leaving with an injury. Matt Capps (1-3) then entered the game and was greeted with a two-run double by Juan Miranda.
Gerardo Parra and Ryan Roberts each singled to load the bases and Johnson then belted a pitch deep into the right field stands, allowing the D-backs to clinch their three-game set with Minnesota.
Aaron Heilman (2-0) got the victory after recording the final two outs in the top of the eighth and J.J. Putz notched his 11th save.
Danny Valencia went 3-for-4, hit a solo homer and drove in three runs for the Twins.
