MLB: New York Yankees 7, New York Mets 3

NEW YORK, May 21 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira cracked a go-ahead home run Saturday and the New York Yankees went on to dispatch the New York Mets 7-3 in an inter-league game.

Teixeira's third-inning blast broke a 2-2 tie. He later added a sacrifice fly for three RBI as the Yankees evened their three-game series with their crosstown rivals.

Russell Martin added a two-run shot while Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez each contributed solo homers for the Yankees.

A.J. Burnett (5-3) earned the victory by holding the Mets to three runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings, walking three and fanning four.

Mets starter Chris Capuano (3-5) was lit up for all four Yankees homers, yielding six runs on six hits in a 5 1/3-inning effort.

Jose Reyes went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for the Mets.
