MIAMI, May 21 (UPI) -- Florida right-hander Javier Vazquez threw seven scoreless innings Saturday and the Marlins hung on to defeat inter-league rival Tampa Bay 5-3.
Vazquez (3-4) scattered three hits and two walks, and struck out seven for the Marlins, who beat the Rays for sixth time in eight games in their annual series.
Omar Infante socked a two-run homer and Hanley Ramirez added a solo shot as Florida clinched its three-game series against the Rays.
Tampa Bay mounted a late comeback, scoring three times in the eighth on Kelly Shoppach's bases-loaded walk and Johnny Damon's two-run single, but could get no closer as Florida's Leo Nunez racked up his 17th save.
David Price (5-4) was touched for five runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings for the Rays, who lost for the sixth time in eight games.
