GLADSTONE, N.J., May 20 (UPI) -- Cristie Kerr put together a one-sided win and Michelle Wie rallied for a victory Friday in the second round of the LPGA Sybase Match Play Championship.
Top-seeded Na Yeon Choi also advanced, but defending champion Hee Kyung Soo was eliminated on the final green by Kyeong Bae.
Kerr, playing the best golf among the 16 players left in the field, rolled past Belen Mozo 7-and-6. Kerr won six consecutive holes beginning at the par-3 third of the Hamilton Farm Golf Club course.
Wie was 2-down with five to play, but birdied the 14th and 15th to square the match and then defeated Anna Nordqvist on the second extra hole.
Choi also had to go two extra holes before eliminating Karen Stupples. Yani Tseng, ranked No. 1 in the world but seeded only fourth in this event, was a 3-and-2 winner over Jenny Suh.
Bae defeated Soo 1-up to set up a third-round meeting with Kerr while the player Soo defeated in last year's final, Angela Stanford, advanced with a 5-and-4 victory over Wendy Ward.
Paula Creamer also moved on with a 1-up decision over Hall of Famer Karrie Webb and Kraft Nabisco champion Stacy Lewis ousted Feng Shanshan 3-and-2.
