STRASBOURG, France, May 20 (UPI) -- Marion Bartoli and Andrea Petkovic, the tournament's top two seeds, both won their semifinal matches Friday at the Strasbourg International.
Bartoli stormed past three-time Strasbourg champion Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-1, 6-2 and Petkovic fought off Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Bartoli improved to 6-2 lifetime against Garrigues but this was her first win on clay in three tries. Garrigues had defeated Bartoli on clay last week in Rome.
The finalists will meet for the fourth time in their careers, with Bartoli holding a 2-1 advantage. They have already played each other twice this season and they split those matches.
Bartoli has five championships to her credit, but has yet to win this year. She was the runner-up at Indian Wells. Petkovic was also a runner-up in Brisbane this season and has just one championship, that coming in Bad Gastein in 2009.
