
SEATTLE, May 19 (UPI) -- Torii Hunter lost a Carlos Peguero fly ball in the ninth inning Thursday, allowing the winning run to score in the Seattle Mariners' 2-1 win over the LA Angels.
Jack Cust led off the bottom of the ninth with a single off Angels reliever Scott Downs (1-1), and went to third of a sacrifice bunt by Adam Kennedy and a groundout by Luis Rodriguez. Hunter's miscue on Peguero's routine fly allowed Cust to come in the with winning run, giving the Mariners a two-game sweep against the Angels.
David Pauley (2-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to get the win for the Mariners, who have won three of their last four games.
Chris Gimenez drove in a run and starter Doug Fister went eight innings for Seattle, allowing one run on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Howie Kendrick provided all the scoring for the Angels with a fourth-inning solo home run. Starter Dan Haren went eight innings, allowing one run on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
The Angels have lost three of their last five.
