
SAN DIEGO, May 19 (UPI) -- Yovani Gallardo allowed only a two-run, fourth-inning homer Wednesday and struck out nine to bring the Milwaukee Brewers a 5-2 victory over San Diego.
Mark Kotsay drove in two runs for the Brewers, who took the lead for good when Jonathan Lucroy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth.
Gallardo (5-2) allowed five hits over six innings and three relievers combined to throw three scoreless innings despite allowing a combined five hits with a walk.
John Axford gave up two singles, but also struck out three in the ninth for his ninth save.
Already holding a 3-2 lead, the Brewers got an RBI double from Ryan Braun in the seventh and he then scored on a single by Prince Fielder.
Dustin Moseley (1-6) took the loss, surrendering three runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings.
