KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 19 (UPI) -- Jeff Francoeur completed a late Kansas City rally with a game-winning, one-out single in the 10th Thursday, giving the Royals a 2-1 decision over Texas.
The Royals tied it in the ninth when Texas closer Neftali Feliz blew his second save opportunity in as many nights, and then won it in the 10th against Darren Oliver.
Kansas City snapped a five-game losing streak.
Chris Davis hit a home run in the second inning and Texas starter Derek Holland took a shutout into the ninth.
Eric Hosmer singled to open the ninth and Feliz came on in relief. He promptly allowed a base hit to Francoeur, moving Hosmer to second, but the next two batters were retired on fly balls with no advancement by the runners.
Feliz then threw a wild pitch and that cost the Rangers when Mike Aviles reached on an infield single that scored Hosmer from third and forced extra innings.
Oliver (1-5) gave up one-out singles to Melky Cabrera and Hosmer in the 10th and was replaced by Cody Eppley. Francoeur fouled off four pitches from Eppley before driving the ball to center to win the game.
Kansas City's Greg Holland (1-1) got the final out of the ninth and worked the 10th to get the win.
