KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 18 (UPI) -- Kansas City pitcher Kyle Davies, who struggled to a 1-6 record out of the chute this season, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, the team said.

Davies is suffering from right rotator cuff inflammation.

In nine starts, he produced a 7.46 earned run average. He recorded 29 strikeouts and 17 walks.

The Royals brought up Danny Duffy from Class AAA Omaha to bolster their pitching staff. Duffy compiled a 3-1 record with a 3.00 ERA in Omaha. He had 43 strikeouts against 10 walks.
