SEATTLE, May 18 (UPI) -- Francisco Liriano turned in seven strong innings that included nine strikeouts Tuesday to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 2-1 victory at Seattle.
Michael Cuddyer's two-run single in the first inning proved to be enough for Liriano (3-5), who did the rest by holding the Mariners to one run on three hits and a walk.
Matt Capps pitched the ninth and was credited with his sixth save.
The win snapped Minnesota's nine-game losing streak and sent the Mariners to their seventh loss in eight games.
Felix Hernandez (4-4) took the loss after an impressive eight-inning start. Hernandez limited the Twins to two runs on three hits and three walks. Hernandez also fanned nine batters.
Ichiro Suzuki drove in Seattle's lone run in the fifth inning to avert the shutout.
