Former Olympic wrestling champion killed

TONKAWA, Okla., May 18 (UPI) -- A former Olympic wrestling champion was killed in Oklahoma when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck north of Oklahoma City, police said.

Douglas Morlan Blubaugh, 76, was killed Monday in the town of Tonkawa in a collision with a truck driven by Curtis Winney, 73, of Forks, Wash., Tonkawa Police Chief Scott Dark said.

There was no indication that alcohol was involved, Dark said, but the facts and findings of the wreck would be forwarded to the Kay County attorney's office to determine whether criminal charges would be filed, KOCO-TV, Oklahoma City, reported.

Blubaugh, a two-time AAU champion in wrestling at Oklahoma State University, was a gold medal champion at the 1960 Olympics.
