LAS VEGAS, May 17 (UPI) -- Chace Stanback, a leading scorer and rebounder for the UNLV Rebels, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Las Vegas, officials say.
Police said Stanback was stopped for speeding at 2:23 a.m. Friday and arrested on a DUI charge a few blocks away from his off-campus residence.
Stanback has been released from custody and will be in court Aug. 11 to face charges, the Las Vegas Sun reported Monday.
After spending one year at UCLA, the 6-foot-8 Stanback transferred to UNLV in the summer of 2008.
First-year UNLV coach Dave Rice said he will consider the matter further this week before taking disciplinary action.
"We do know that there was an incident, and we are trying to determine when it happened and what transpired," Rice said.
Stanback was suspended for two exhibition games last season by former coach Lon Kruger because of academic issues, the Sun reported.
