DENVER, May 17 (UPI) -- Carlos Gonzalez belted a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the sixth inning Monday, powering the Colorado Rockies to a 7-4 win over San Francisco.
The Rockies trailed 4-2 entering the sixth inning but scored five times off Tim Lincecum (3-4) to win the first of a two-game set and pull to within a half-game of the Giants atop the National League West.
Seth Smith started the comeback with a solo homer and the rally continued when Jose Lopez singled and went to second when Lincecum threw wildly to first on Jose Morales' grounder.
Dexter Fowler's one-out single scored Lopez with the tying run and after Jonathan Herrera reached on a single, Gonzalez blasted a pitch over the center field fence to ice Colorado's victory.
Clayton Mortensen (1-0) earned the win despite yielding four runs on seven hits over six frames.
Andres Torres hit a solo homer and Nate Schierholtz added a two-run blast for the Giants.
